Cursed by a Vampire is the seventh book in the Immortal Hearts of San Francisco series by Susan Griscom. Ari DeMarco is the only human living among vampires. Everything is perfect in his life except for one thing; he wants to become a vampire, but no one will turn him. Desperate to be part of the family, Ari feels a little adrift. However, things change dramatically when he meets Abella. She is fiery, smart, and human. Suddenly Ari’s priorities change, and he needs to rethink his choices. But getting together with Abella proves to be impossible. A half-witch-vampire curses her, and any man she falls in love with will die. Is Ari destined never to get what he wants? Or is there an end to his misery?
Oh boy, Cursed by a Vampire is perfect in every sense. I loved Ari. He was sensitive, vulnerable, and slightly out of touch with things. Abella gave a real shock to his system, and that was what he needed to get out of his head. Abella is fantastic. She is a hematologist who wants to make it possible for her vampire grandfather to walk in the sunlight. Her genius was incomparable, and her witty charm came in handy to win Ari’s heart. The pace is fast, and the narrative style is engaging. I loved how the dialogue gave me a look inside Ari’s mind and what he thought before sharing it with anyone else. The story had me guessing until the end. I loved the ending even more. I highly recommend this series to everyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance with a fantastic plot.
