Dianne Miller’s children’s picture book, Create, focuses on the adorable activities of Little Bunny and his classmates in this episodic book series. They find themselves putting together artistic pieces using a number of mediums to create texture within their artworks. Thirty-two pages are graced with illustrations that are also created by the author, Dianne Miller. The expressions are cute and comical at times and bring you quickly into the adventure.
Create by Dianne Miller really got my attention. It took me back in time to a memory of when I was seven and my cousin was four. He had colored outside the lines and I may have called it “a mess”. I still feel bad about it to this very day. Create is such an important book for young children to read and experience so that they know that there are no “messes”. Imperfections and unique creations are what art is all about. Playing it safe has never gotten anyone very far in any sort of venture that they might take on.
Create holds so much more meaning in its pages. It may just make the little boy or little girl who is afraid to color outside the lines open up to the possibilities that come when you do things a little bit differently than the rest. I feel that schools and homes with young children would greatly benefit from adding Dianne Miller’s Create to their growing library of books. It’s a must-have for anyone’s family.
