There are few books I have enjoyed as much as Cloud Whispers. Sedona Hutton succeeds in convincing me — and I believe she will many others — that there is more, far more, to our consciousness than we can ever understand; that there are spiritual laws that can help us get better results and give power to the loftiest of our desires. The novel is written in a very clear and beautiful prose and infused with both emotional and spiritual currents that readers can absorb. A sheer delight to read.

The story begins with Katie Callahan getting a phone call. She finds out from her cousin Gwen's lawyer that she was named as Gwen's heir, and her cousin wanted Katie to raise her daughter, Savannah. A quick trip to her overbearing father assures Katie that Savannah is the daughter that she gave up for adoption when she was abroad as a teenager. Now Katie is married to Liam, a custom motorcycle business owner, a man that her father disapproves of. Liam and Katie would like to have a child together, and she has to break the news to Liam. But before she has a chance to talk to him, they are involved in an accident that leaves Katie in a coma.

Ms. Hutton does a superb job of bringing this heartfelt story to life, with a cast of supportive family, friends, and spirit guides that coax Katie back to her loved ones. Sedona Hutton is able to vividly describe the animosity that her father feels for his daughter's husband that could rival the Hatfields and the McCoys. To add fuel to the fire, Liam's successful younger brother Shane, that Liam put through college, begins dating Katie's sister, Liz. There are so many stories going on within the confines of the greater picture, but the author is able to weave them all together. Just as one crisis gets resolved, up pops another one. Once Katie awakens and when she finally gets up the courage to tell her husband about Savannah, Katie learns that her daughter has been placed in the custody of Savannah's greedy, drunken uncle that just wants the fostering fee. This magnificently told story leads the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride. Sedona Hutton brilliantly combines all of the ingredients to keep the pages turning. She even added some very tastefully written romance. Cloud Whispers is one of the best books that I have ever read, and Sedona Hutton gave it the "Wow!" factor.

Can she achieve this?

Cloud Whispers by Sedona Hutton has everything I enjoy in a novel. A great and unique story line. A fantastic ensemble of well-created characters that I could engage with immediately. They were all superbly created, and the plot had just the right amount of conflict and tension that kept my attention and interest. The subplot between Shane and Liz was heart-warming and I enjoyed the build-up to their relationship. The dialogue was suited to the personality of each character. The spiritual messages involving Black Eagle and Katie were fascinating. The author wrote those scenes with such detail that it is clear she has researched her subject intensively. I believe the whole story can be summed up by a quote from Black Eagle himself: 'Follow your heart, make your intentions clear, and believe that your dreams will come true.’ A perfect story of a family’s secret torments, and their journey to self-awareness and forgiveness.

The story begins with a strong conflict, a crisis moment, when Nathan Loncar, attorney for Gwendolyn Shelton (Katie’s cousin whom she only met once) informs Katie that Gwen has named her guardian of her twelve-year-old daughter, Savannah.

While Katie doesn’t see any reason why her cousin would want her to look after her daughter, she can’t help wondering if Savannah could be the child she gave away. How can she break the news to her husband and will he accept it? A motorcycle accident changes the course of everything as Katie hovers between life and death. It’s while in a state of coma that she awakens to a new consciousness and receives guidance from spiritual powers. She discovers the power of intention and her purpose, and undertakes the journey back to life. Follow her spiritual odyssey as she discovers that she can be in control.

Sedona Hutton’s Cloud Whispers is a novel with a strong appeal for fans of New Age spiritual writing, and while it deftly handles mature themes, the story features the dynamics of family life and explores the different layers of relationships. The writing is gorgeous and the author does a great job in creating a powerful conflict. The characters, especially the protagonist are very realistic. I enjoyed the premise, an infertile woman who’s given away her child now faced with a difficult choice. The narrative has great psychological and emotional depth and readers won’t find it hard to connect with the characters. A very enjoyable read, indeed.
