Church Dog and the Bully's Ghost by Tracy Mattes is a lovely Christian children's story. K'noot the dog and his best pal Marshmallow love volunteering at the church. When two boys disappear after a storm picks up, the two friends go off in search of them and find themselves in an abandoned warehouse guarded by Bandit, Ruff, and Tuff. Bandit is a bully, but his heart hurts from the loss of a friend, and only K'noot the Church Dog knows how to turn him around – by showing Bandit he cares for him and that God is there for him. With the storm raging, K'noot and Bandit face their fears to find the boys but can they find them in time? And can K'noot bring back the Bandit everyone knew and loved, or is he destined to remain a bully forever?
Church Dog and the Bully's Ghost by Tracy Mattes is a lovely adventure story for children with many lessons for them to learn. It's an action-packed, fun story with a great plot and wonderful animal characters. It teaches kids that compassion is far greater than anger and bullying behavior. It also teaches that Jesus is their best friend who walks beside them at all times, no matter what. It shows that what you see is not always the truth, that something different is often hiding underneath and it takes a certain kind of behavior – compassionate and friendly – to bring out the best in others. This is a lovely part of the Church Dog series, made fun with a great story and lively illustrations. It's one of the best stories I've read to teach children about dealing with grief and forgiveness while underpinning the values of Christianity.
