Children from the Light: Book Four in the Tori Cooper Novels by Vicki Stewart is far more than a paranormal novel; it incorporates God and the devil, known as Lucifer, or Luc for short, and the eternal battle between good and evil. Tori Cooper is an FBI agent, one of a team on the trail of a serial killer. Tori has supernatural abilities that she applies to her work. In the past, she has seen visions of events that have already happened, but her powers are growing; evolving to encompass the future. Crime prevention has enormous advantages over solving crimes where it is too late to save the victim, but will it make it possible for Tori to save herself when she sees her own life in desperate jeopardy?
I enjoyed Children from the Light: Book Four in the Tori Cooper Novels very much. Vicki Stewart has written a story that depends on the heroine having supernatural powers: give it a twist and it would read well as a traditional thriller, the villains are so well-hidden; the mark of a superb paranormal fantasy. Tori herself comes over as an authentic first-time-pregnant married woman and it is easy to empathise with her, even when Luc, thrown out of heaven, appears to gloat over the forthcoming child. “All of the heavens are abuzz with the news of the prodigal Remial son!” Tori is under the protection of Gemma, a daughter… Children from the Light is a fascinating story, sure to attract readers to the whole series.
