I’m a sucker for tales of the Greek gods. My absolute favorites are the Norse gods, but there are just more stories about the Greek pantheon out there and I read whatever I can find. If you are a mythology lover and a fan of the Young Adult genre, then I have the perfect book for you. Champions: At Fire's End by Charlotte Jain is great. The story is fresh. The characters are well written and very easy to care about. An added bonus is that the story is told from both a male and a female point of view because this is the story of two best friends who have been gifted with powers. April and Kyle are Champions - the champions of the gods in a battle that maybe the gods won’t be powerful enough to win without their Champions' help. Kyle and April are also teenagers and not totally in control of their feelings or their powers.

Charlotte Jain does a wonderful job of introducing us to these two powerful teenagers. Their powers are Elemental, based on the three elements of Aristotle; Earth, Wind, and Fire. April and Kyle’s powers are Fire based. They need to find the Champions whose powers are based on the powers of Air and Earth before they have any hope of winning the great battle. They have been looking for seventeen years and time is running out. A desperate quest told by a master storyteller, Champions: At Fire's End is a winner. I haven’t read many Young Adult books that are this good. The Greek gods we all know plus some very interesting teenagers. I look forward to the next book.
