Cats on Halloween Night is written by Lindsay Derollo and illustrated by Denny Poliquit. Cats who are out on Halloween enjoying the night see trick-or-treaters walking around on the sidewalks in their costumes. The cats play hide-and-seek and other mischievous games as the fairies, superheroes, and witches collect candy and giggle along their way. The cats find the discarded, shiny candy wrappers and play with them until they see flashlights headed their way. Will the mischievous cats hide before the trick-or-treaters get close enough to see them? Will they be spotted or chased? Will the cats and kids carry on with their Halloween fun without stepping on toes or tails?
Cats on Halloween Night by Lindsay Derollo is an absolutely adorable picture book that kids will have a great time reading. I love the silly behavior of the playful characters who spend their time enjoying Halloween night. I love the way the animals and kids are doing their own thing, trick-or-treating while the cats play their fun games. Kids will have a blast with this entertaining story and easily relate to the fun of such a holiday tradition. The illustrations by Denny Poliquit are beautiful and will keep kids flipping the pages. I recommend this picture book to young children who enjoy adventurous stories with playful animals, especially those who are in the early learning stages of reading. I hope Derollo and Poliquit get together in the future for more stories and picture books like this one.
