In Joe Mosher’s Captain Kissy-Face: Book One in the Red Cloak Island Series, the only thing Kevin McFarland ever wanted was to join the Red Cloak Island’s school for superheroes. When he got there though, that was a different story. Attending a school with kids with super powers is not easy. He is bullied mercilessly, he is given nicknames that irritate the hell out of him, and he misses his home terribly. And things are going downhill from there on. There is a bout of illness spreading in the school. Students and children alike are getting ill. It all started the day Kevin got to the school, and now no one is allowed to leave the school or get in. To top it all off, he is the prime suspect for inflicting this illness on his teachers and classmates. Things are not looking good for Kevin.
Can Kevin save himself and clear his name? Will he ever be able to earn his classmates' trust back? But most important of all, can he help in saving the sick people of the island before it is too late and real damage is done?
Captain Kissy-Face by Joe Mosher is the perfect book for kids who have a wild imagination and love superheroes. It is the perfect mix of morality, kind hearted characters, and a good authentic hero who will take root in your mind and stay there for a long time. The story is charming, the characters are heartwarming, and they are real! Enjoyable and very fascinating.
