Cab Ride by Nolia Harp centers around Cora Tinsley, a graduate holding a master’s degree in arts management. Her exceptional intellect, maturity, strong work ethic, and professionalism have bagged her the position as the director of The Pink House Art Gallery in New York. Cora possesses a type A personality and an unwavering determination to be the best. However, there is one aspect of her life that eludes perfection and remains beyond her control—crippling episodes of unexplained pain that have afflicted her for the past decade. Despite her best efforts, the cause of these episodes remains unknown, and finding a solution to stop them proves even more elusive. Cora's life takes a turn when she embarks on a blind date with the son of a renowned actor, which ultimately leads to a profound experience of love.
The author's writing style effectively captures the characters' essence and surroundings, creating a vivid reading experience. It is engaging and evocative, with funny dialogue, which is lighthearted with some Southern sass. The humor, lightheartedness, and mystery regarding CJ's interest in Cora contribute to the story's appeal. The narrative effortlessly combines descriptions, dialogue, and character thoughts, creating a sense of immediacy and drawing the reader into the story. The author's ability to capture the unique personality of all the characters in her words adds depth to their relationship and piques the reader's interest. The character development is well done, which makes readers relate to them and feel the depth of their personalities. For example, the effect of the pain episodes is that Cora's social life and circle of friends have been severely restricted, preventing her from fulfilling a deep and concealed longing for romantic love, and has been displayed well. The book is well-formatted, allowing for a smooth reading experience. The paragraphs are spaced, and chapters are named along with the year, making it easy to follow. Overall, Cab Ride by Nolia Harp is an engaging and enjoyable read. The book is recommended to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted read.
