When I was in second grade I did poorly on an assignment (I can’t remember what it was) and as punishment, my parents banned me from playing video-games and watching television during the weekdays. Harsh, right? Desperate and starving for entertainment, I awoke something inside my head that hadn’t been there before…an imagination. This crazy portal between my ears that could teleport me anywhere and transform me into anything. Fast-forward to today, and I’ve found I can grasp that awesome creative sensation through writing stories. I enjoy the world-building and sculpting characters for audiences to root for or against. I enjoy writing whatever I can whenever I can and strive to get better at my craft every day.

Buzz Flyswell is restless. He is going to start his first week of school the next day and is worried if the other students will like him. Buzz tries his best to be like the other students but he knows that everyone knows he is different. The only one that seems to understand him is his friend Skeeter. Buzz is a fly and he keeps wondering how he was born in a hive full of honeybees. The hive has three sections; top of the hive is the Queen’s royal palace, the middle portion is where Buzz lives, and the bottom portion of the hive is the ‘Beeport’ where bees fly in and out of the hive, and the honey depot where they store the honey supply. Things take a different turn when someone starts to kidnap the members of the hive and Buzz is forced to go on a mission inside the Harrison House - which has humans - to search for Princess Juno. This is going to be the greatest adventure of his life because no one has made it out of the Harrison house alive. Read on to find out who joins Buzz on this mission and whether they will be able to rescue the Princess.
Buzz by E.A. Carrington is a story about self-acceptance, self-belief, trust, and friendship. The story is interesting and I like the way the author brings bees, hornets, and humans together and blends them deftly into the same story. The turning point is when the Hornet General and Princess Juno are kidnapped, how everyone’s attention shifts to Buzz and how he is suspected of kidnapping them. There is humor, action, intrigue, and adventure to keep young readers captivated by the story till the very end. All the characters are interesting and the author has portrayed them well, making their individuality stand out. Buzz is a fun read for children who love suspense, mystery, and adventure.
