But What Do I See? is a children's book written by Alyssa K. Harris and illustrated by Sidra Mehmood. Regardless of the texture of your skin, the color of your eyes, the length of your hair, your height, your smile, your shape, or more, you are special and unique in various ways. Do not ever mistake being different for being wrong, ugly, or imperfect. Every single person is different and learning a hobby or talent which you love and enjoy gives an outlet for all within you that shines. Once you discover those things which make you thrive and smile, embrace them to the fullest so that you can feel how truly wonderful and amazing you can be, both to yourself and to all those around you.
I very much enjoyed the powerful message which pushes positive self-esteem towards each and every young reader. The fact that But What Do I See? has been written by such a young and talented author is living proof that we all have a beautiful glow inside us that truly can shine if we look for it. Never judge yourself or others by what you think you see on the outside as we are rarely our best self-critic. Alyssa K. Harris is a light all of her own and I look forward to reading more of her uplifting publications in the future. I highly recommend But What Do I See? to all readers aged 5-12 and feel it will be a wonderful addition to any home or school library.
