Burn by Joanna Morgan follows Levi, a fire elemental, on a mission to find any sleepers on Earth before the Chaolt does. Sleepers are beings with latent elemental abilities who unknowingly aid the Chaolt in bringing about chaos and destruction on earth in the form of natural disasters. Brooke never thought she’d get involved in all of this otherworldly nonsense but it might be worth it for the smoking-hot Levi who seems to show up whenever she needs him.
Words cannot explain how excited I was to read Burn by Joanna Morgan. The premise of this story is one I had always hoped of finding somewhere in the vast realm of fantasy and, at last, I found it. From the world-building to the characters and everything in between, I loved every bit of Burn. I also really enjoyed the entire concept of the elementals and the Chaolt and how they impact the world without normal humans knowing it. That along with the relationship between Brooke and Levi was just the cherry on top of the delicious cake. The forced proximity, although it was more like fate shoving them together at every turn, was made unique in the way that these characters were opposites and they say opposites attract for a reason. The chemistry between the two made the story even more thrilling and entertaining. Overall, this was an amazing read and I’m glad to have found this author as I’ll be keeping my eye out for more of her books.
