The author is a natural born storyteller. I spent the entire time reading this book nodding my head in agreement because I recognized almost all of the situations described. The descriptions of HR and the Golden Boy were spot on. I loved the exercises at the end of each chapter as these gave real concrete techniques to use, especially with a demanding, critical manager. I think if I had read this book before I entered the corporate world, I would not have been so stressed and frustrated with the company politics. This is an absolute must-have book for anyone who either already works in a toxic environment or someone about to enter the corporate world. Everyone will recognize the characters described in this book, and it will definitely give you a head start when it comes to dealing with office politics and challenging work situations.
