Today’s culture defines marriage in different terms than how God intended marriage. Today marriage is disposable. If you hit a rough spot file for divorce. Married couples mean joint income, more money means more material things.
Marriage should be a partnership of three, Jesus, husband and wife. Marriage was not meant to be a business deal.
Steven A. Mentzer shares his story with readers. Mentzer was a minister when his marriage fell apart. He had been married 10 years. After the divorce Mentzer resigned from his church. Like most people he went through a period of grieving. Grieving for a divorce is not the same as grieving the death of a loved one. But the grief is real and can be very damaging. The stages are similar, grief, anger, blame, forgiveness and healing.
Mentzer intertwines his perspective, commentary, and scripture throughout this book. This book is well written in a style that is easy to read and understand. I feel sure it will assist readers as they struggle through their relationship.
