Andrew Billingham is many things—intelligent, attractive, naïve, and an absolute stud magnet for women (and at least one man, so far). In Body Language by Tim Bartholomew, the first book in the Slave to Beauty Trilogy, Andrew encounters Naomi (a short-lived ‘love of his life’), Bryony (a much longer-lived ‘love of his life’), and two nefarious women partnered with a gay man that abuses his love life while nearly cutting short his life. Andrew’s love and sex lives are varied. On the one hand hilarious, on the other tragic, but in all cases highly erotic, passionate, and seemingly never-ending. His natural simplicity leaves him open to all sorts of sexual adventures and trouble that will leave the reader struggling to hold back tears of laughter or the urgent desire to find a private place to “handle things.”
Personally, I love British humor. I’m also a big fan of eroticism expressed in sophisticated language. There are plenty of both in Body Language. In fact, if you’re looking for a novel that’s erotic, adventurous, and a true “page-turner” wrapped in language that fits perfectly in the literature box, Body Language would be your book of choice! Tim Bartholomew is highly skilled in the mechanics of story-telling. In particular, and most important to me, is his ability to “show” rather than “tell” the story. Bartholomew’s wide range of characters spans the definitions of offbeat to bizarre, nefarious, and merciless; but under his deft hand, they all somehow become normal, empathetic, alluring, and personable, each in their own way. Action scenes waste little time in descriptive narrative relevant to the place. Bartholomew prefers to get right into the action, and that’s a big plus for readers. Fans of erotica, romance, comedy, and/or adventure will love Body Language. I did, and I’m definitely going to read the rest of the Slave to Beauty trilogy.
