In Birthday Girl Lilly by Kathy Johnson, Lilly was excited to be born and she was picked up by a stork and they zoomed through the sky. Lilly enjoyed her bird's eye view as they flew. The birds who flew with her filled her thoughts with words of wisdom and finally, Lilly was going to have a fabulous birth in the Starlette Universe. Suddenly Lilly saw the blue skies and her family, Mom, Pop, and her sister Skylar waving at her. She hit the earth with a bang and joined the Starlette gang. Her suitcase was filled with clothes and bright colored bows which came from Cupid's treasure cove. He told Lilly that love was life's greatest joy and Evil Eva wanted to destroy it. Lilly couldn't wait for her family, friends, and a great welcome. The Starlette girls loved the bows she gave them and her friend Ollie also had a bow fixation. Life was smooth till Evil Eva came, who saw her bows as her greatest threat. She thought Lilly was her worst enemy and Lilly did not know why Evil Eva chose to pursue her. Would her story end in victory?
Birthday Girl Lilly is another entertaining and magical story in the Lilly series and is filled with fun ideas, rhyming verses, and whimsical characters. It is a fine blend of a positive message, educational content, and good information all packed into it effortlessly. The plot revolves around the universal theme of good triumphing over evil and the magical illustrations by Dick Kulpa add to the enchantment of the story and the characters. The wordplay is excellent and the book is a visual delight to young readers who will find Lilly's Universe unpredictable, happy, and fascinating. The book is also a good way to introduce children to new words so that they can enhance their vocabulary. All the books in this series are entertaining and should be in homes and school libraries so that children can have an interactive and fun time reading about the adventures of Lilly in the Starlette Universe.
