Author Biography

Linda Acaster is the award-winning author of four novels and 70+ short stories.

Her passion for the Northern Plains started at an early age - at 4 years her mother was cutting her an honour bonnet from newspaper. She went on to collect books and university papers on the day-to-day lives of the Native Americans of the region before becoming a re-enactor, giving talks to schools and community groups.

Her latest novel, "Torc of Moonlight", set in her home county of Yorkshire, is a gritty paranormal thriller concerning the resurrection of a Celtic fertility goddess. Do you toss coins into a 'well'? Be careful what you wish for.

She lives close to a still-venerated ancient spring in northern England.

The setting is the 1830’s in the Wyoming-Montana Territories among the tribe of the Apsaroke (Crow) Indians. Moon Hawk wants only one thing and that is to have Winter Man court and marry her. With her mother’s help Moon Hawk learns how to get his attention but yet not act as some of the other Indian maids do. She is chaste and plans to remain that way till marriage. Winter man has had many lovers and he is not about to settle down with one woman. Can he conquer this young maid or will she remain chaste and spurn his advances? Skins The Wolf also wants the hand of Moon Hawk. Between the two neither seem worthy of her hand. Both want to brag on their conquests and both are conceited but Skins The Wolf also has a mean streak like his father.

This is quite an interesting story that is very easy to get caught up in. The characters are very captivating, especially Moon Hawk and Winter Man as they both spar and antagonize each other in their courtship. I enjoyed learning of the culture of Apsaroke Tribe better known as the Crow Indians. The author obviously spent much time in researching the culture and background before writing the book. I enjoy books about Native Americans. This was a fast read. Highly recommended.
