Building a company from the ground up and finding success is a dream all entrepreneurs have in common. After spending years working in the corporate world, Damon Stafford left IBM to start his own Insurtech company, Alpine Intel, which offers clients subject matter experts for insurance carriers. Today, Alpine Tech employs 500 people and is nearing almost a billion dollars in valuation. In Believe in Better, Stafford shares the secrets to his success, delving into the core principles of running a successful and profitable organization. In this book, you will learn about crafting an uncontested space for business where competition is irrelevant, building trust and attracting talent through authenticity, creating value, the art of selling, embracing new perspectives, improving communication skills and teamwork, taking action, being transparent, decision making and scalability, and much more.
Believe in Better: The Evolution of Core Principles That Pioneered an Industry covers all the fundamentals of building and running a successful enterprise. Damon Stafford encourages readers to lead by example and urges them to pursue profitability as a journey rather than a destination. Using personal anecdotes and relevant stories, the author provides examples of the practical application of the principles discussed in the book. At the end of each chapter, there is a fairy tale to familiarize readers with the topic at hand. What I liked most about Stafford's approach to the book is that he lays out everything in a way that is accessible to the reader, focusing on tools and practices with real-life applications and examples and anecdotes that keep you engaged all the way through. I found this to be a very informative and motivational book, and I highly recommend it to current and budding entrepreneurs and leaders alike.
