Before Whom We Stand: The Everyman’s Guide to the Nature of God by Lee Ann Rubsam is written in a warm and friendly manner. Opening the cover was like receiving an invitation in the mail to take a trip together with her to discover who the members of the Trinity really are. Like Lee Ann points out, I have often said I believe God can do something, but I am not sure He actually will do something. She talks about the character of God and how truth is so much a part of who He is, and that He cannot lie. She emphasizes that God says what He means and, as my Promise-Giver, His promises are rock solid and can be counted on. She also backs up what she teaches with many Scripture passages from both the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing the importance of speaking forth verses and phrases that I can use as a weapon in my spiritual warfare against the adversary.
Believing and trusting God loves me can be difficult, but Lee Ann Rubsam offers me reassurance that He does, indeed, love me with unconditional love and is a good Father and Provider, who wants to answer prayers that ask Him to reveal His love to me personally. Before Whom We Stand is good and well worth the time it takes to read about the Trinity, made up of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. My favorite part came at the end where Lee Ann invited me, by praying a salvation prayer, to let Jesus, my Savior, be an integral part of my life because, without God’s mercy, my life would be hopeless and miserable beyond endurance. With the Holy Spirit living inside me, I can experience comfort and peace and be led by Him to live a life pleasing to God by following His promptings.
