Bark Up The Right Tree was written by Jessie, a black Lab, and her mommy, Ruth Tschudin. This adorable book was written from Jessie’s point of view. The story begins sadly with Jessie left at a shelter by her former owners. Jessie was used to a loving family, but one of the children had started hurting her. It was for her benefit that she was given away. Jessie was very sad and became ill. Ruth had wanted a dog for a long time, but she had to convince her husband. This story has a happy conclusion. Jessie has a loving home and is well cared for by Ruth and Hugo.

Bark Up The Right Tree left me smiling and sometimes chuckling out loud. The author’s love for Christ shines through in this book. I loved the “Paws” between each chapter. “Paws” is a bit of wisdom learned from Jessie. Tschudin shines light of the tragedy of abused animals and the need to give rescue animals a home. I am an animal lover with a German Shepherd and a feline baby. Next time I acquire a pet, it will be through a rescue program. Both young and old will appreciate Bark Up The Right Tree.
