Banished from Memory by Mary P Sheeran explores a historical era in the 1960s, with a tapestry that exposes the dazzling lights of Hollywood culture and a legacy of family secrets about to destroy two young characters. Dianna Fletcher is sixteen when she lands a new part. However, her skills and confidence are challenged by an enemy in Bill Royce, a womanizer and a brilliant actor. Why does he hate her so? With mounting suspicion between the two young actors, their relationship continues to evolve through mistrust. Dianna continues to feel strongly that Bill has a dark secret and suspects it has something to do with their two families. She pushes on, convincing him to share what bothers him. Little does she know that the truth about the blacklist and the dark secrets of her own family can destroy an entire legacy.

Deftly plotted and beautifully written, Banished from Memory is a gripping narrative that explores the world of show business and the journey of two young characters in the acting and entertainment business. The themes of friendship, love, and family are skillfully explored and it is interesting how the author uses family secrets and a vendetta to create a strong conflict that moves the plot forward. Mary P Sheeran has a gift for plot and character and the way she connects the characters to the setting augments the strength of her plot and the reading experience. This is a novel for those who enjoy multidimensional and memorable characters. The suspense kept me turning the pages, wanting to understand why Bill treats Dianna the way he does and hoping to see how their friendship develops. Mary P Sheeran has an unwavering grip on the reader’s attention right from the start of the story and makes sure it stays that way until the last page.
