Born and raised in New Delhi, India, P.Tomar came to USC Film School in 2003 for MFA in Film, Video and Computer Animation. She received the prestigious Sloan award in Animation at USC in 2006. She has worked on many feature films and TV shows including Disney's Bolt, A Christmas Carol, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Star Wars, Transformers 3, Kungfu Panda, Nickelodeon's TV show WallyKazam and Shimmer and Shine.

Babu and Bina at the Ghost Party by P. Tomar is the fascinating story of two elephant youngsters, Babu and Bina, who go to see the old Indian fort. Their parents, Papa Trunk and Mama Trunk, tell them that there will be lots of colors, lights, and noise. While Papa Trunk and Mama Trunk buy tickets, Babu and Bina buy treats. The candy man tells them to watch out for the ghost of the Maharaja as they believe he still protects the kingdom. They first go to the Maharaja's chamber, which has a ceiling of gold, and Babu imagines himself sitting on the throne. They have a good view of the royal garden and ocean from the balcony. Babu and Bina decide to take Pinto, their pup, for a walk in the royal garden. Pinto breaks free from Babu and finally runs into a mysterious room with a green door. What happens in there? Will Babu and Bina be able to find their way back?
This story is wonderful and young readers will love the spookiness when Babu and Bina come across the Maharaja's ghost. It is a fantastical and magical adventure that will acquaint readers with Indian culture and history. The illustrations are as whimsical as the book and they breathe life into the characters and the story. It is a good book for bedtime storytelling and can be used in classrooms for read aloud and storytelling sessions. It is a book for all those young readers who love spooky adventures and magical stories. I am sure the books in this series are going to be fun and will acquaint readers with India's culture and history in an entertaining way.
