Argent Myst: Avowed is the first novel in the Argent Myst series by L.R. Sherwood. The story follows Juliette, a witch who was turned into a vampire by her soulmate Marek to save her life. However, their bliss was short-lived when Marek was burnt at the stake in Salem. Juliette had one singular goal in her mind: find Marek’s ashes, resurrect him, and reunite with her beloved. However, she was not expecting to have her life’s direction changed by Evan Gallient. A compassionate bar owner of a small fishing village, Evan was ready to help Juliette. There was something about Juliette that drew Evan to her, but he wasn’t alone in this feeling. Juliette was slowly falling for the charismatic man who was ready to protect her and keep her safe. Before she knew it, Juliette had a decision to make: Evan or Marek. She could only have one but who would she choose?
Argent Myst: Avowed is a wholesome romance novel with plenty of drama, suspense, and a solid plot to keep you entertained for hours. I absolutely loved Evan. He was the calm to Juliette’s storm, a piece of her that was missing for centuries. They complemented each other and, dare I say, felt right for each other. The concept of a witch-turned-vampire was executed exceptionally well. It added life to the story and made it more entertaining. L. R. Sherwood smartly introduced twists and turns, created new avenues for Evan and Juliette to explore, and provided opportunities for their love to bloom naturally. The choice was tough for Juliette, but her development was sheer perfection. I was amazed at how the author was able to add humor while also staying true to the story. It was a beautifully written tale and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series.
