Are You a Pineapple? by Kathryn A. Zolman is the story of a young boy called Kevin who gets a new puppy. He loves her very much but he is struggling to come up with a name for her. As he looks around his home and the yard, he tries to think of a name that will suit her. He tries Lady, Lucky, and Princess, but the puppy does not seem very excited about any of those names. As he works his way through all the obvious names, he starts picking random names like spoon, coffee, and sugar, but none of those are right either. Eventually, he chooses the name Pineapple and the puppy seems very excited at that name. It is perfect for her.
Kathryn A. Zolman has written a cute and fun book in Are You a Pineapple? The illustrations of Kevin and the puppy are well done and help to tell the story. I see from the message at the beginning of the book that this is based on a true story of how the real Kevin named his dog. I think that is a wonderful idea and a great book for kids, especially those who are getting a new puppy. It encourages them to interact with their puppy and choose a name that suits the dog. This can be the best part of getting a new dog. The book is simple to understand and would be a fun read for younger children around 3 to 5 years. I would recommend it.
