Miranda knows there is something unusual about her room. There are creatures in the room that do not belong there and a small armadillo is asleep by her head. He is softly snoring on her pillow and down by her feet is a real capybara. There is a mongoose on the trail of a copperhead snake and on the dresser is an owl wearing a shower cap. Miranda can also see a bat upside down, eating a banana. There are more creatures inside and there are more creatures in the yard and in her bathroom. Her mom calls her for breakfast and she realizes there is only Chico, her dog. She tells her mother about what she has seen. Her mom tells her she is already late and has to get ready for school so that she does not miss the bus. Would she make it in time or should she stay back to watch the lemurs performing in the pool? Let's go on this wild and exhilarating adventure with Miranda.
An Armadillo On My Pillow by Deborah Stevenson is a funny book filled with a lot of action and fun where young readers learn about a lot of creatures in an adorable way. The story will make children dream and imagine like Miranda. Morgan Spicer brings the characters and the events alive with wonderful illustrations that make the story captivating. Illustrations always have their own charm when it comes to pulling children into a story and the pictures in this book do just that. Children will enjoy the wild fantasy journey along with Miranda as well as learning the names of new creatures. The Scavenger Hunt exercise at the end of the story will have readers excited as they try to find out the answers to the questions.
