A retired elderly professor and his wife receive a parcel that contains a large old manuscript bound in leather and copper-like material with a key, along with several black onyx cubes with tiny, thread-like white markings like runes on the surface of each cube. Baffled by the mysterious items and with no clue to the sender's identity, they reach out to the scientific communities but to no avail, leaving them to find answers themselves about these ancient artifacts. Alien Manuscripts, Onyx Cubes and Runes: Of Ancient Markers and Engineered Genes by Darryl Gopaul is a contemplative story about human evolution itself and the mysterious catalyst for our species' development. The search for answers will reveal the mystery of antiquity that many experts have long pondered and debated in their circle.
Alien Manuscripts, Onyx Cubes and Runes is a fascinating tale of the thirst for knowledge which eventually led an advanced species to seek answers to their own curiosities beyond their world. The discussion regarding spirituality, science, and philosophy in terms of existence and the cosmos itself is easily thought-provoking despite this story being fiction. Gopaul's Alien Manuscripts, Onyx Cubes and Runes is no doubt imaginative but it's also introspective in its own way. I gravitated towards the aliens as their story and their perspective on the potential of the 'primitive beings' on Earth was intriguing. All in all, this is an interesting insight into ancient visitors from outer space that had their role in terms of humankind's "rapid and unusual evolution."
