Are you craving adventure in the great wide somewhere, or at least a break from the mundane routine of daily life? For an adventure that's out of this world, consider buying Aletheia the Magic Butterfly by author A.M. Curiel. A mother herself, Curiel has experience in writing quality children's books, and this is no exception. The story begins when trouble strikes in the cosmic galaxies. When twelve stars come together, dissent arises in the cosmic universe, and causes the destruction of the galaxy. As destruction and arguments continue, it begins to feel like all hope is lost, until a cocoon gives birth to a human butterfly named Aletheia. Will she survive in the midst of disaster, or will arguments cause the demise of this tiny miracle? Powerfully written and illustrated, this book is a treat for any child to learn a meaningful lesson in an inviting way.
Overall, I thought Aletheia the Magic Butterfly was absolutely wonderful! What I enjoyed the most was Ms. A.M. Curiel's ability to present an important message to the next generation without sounding preachy or pompous. Vital themes such as conflict resolution and the importance of working together are evidently active within this story, but with the friendly atmosphere of excellent drawings, lovable characters, and action that fuels the words into the depths of a child's imagination. I would recommend this to any parent, as it is a great introductory first chapter book for their child. A positive message with amazing characters and a heartwarming ending...what could be better?
