Addison's Mark by Matt Kuvakos is the age-old story of good vs evil. Sam sees his father die in a most horrific manner and then loses his mother. Before she dies, she draws an ankh and sees something - or someone - standing at his shoulder and tells him he will be all right. Sam is troubled by visions and dreams which intensify when he meets Ashlin, even waking one morning to find a strange mark burned on his wrist. Ashlin's father is destined to become the next president of America and Sam jumps at the chance when he is invited to join their campaign tour. Before they leave, he gives Sam a pin in the shape of the ankh. The campaign tour marks the beginning of a terrible war, a war that surely nobody could escape from unscathed. What connection does Ashlin's father have? What is the mark and where does the ankh figure?

Addison's Mark by Matt Kuvakos was a compelling read although it did become a little confusing in parts. I found it difficult at times to separate reality from Sam's visions. That said, the story did draw me in from the opening sequence and did keep me reading to the end, so much so that I would like to read the next book. Perhaps some of the confusing issues will be resolved in that one? It's a great first attempt by a young new author and, to be fair, he shows great promise for the future. One to keep an eye on.
