Gillian Cooper and brother Luke ran a detection business, not as Luke would say, a detective agency which meant they did all sorts of jobs people wanted them to do. Luke learned of a detective job that needed doing and asked Gillian to go to the little town of Truman Sound to
inquire about the death of a young teenager who had been found dead a year earlier and the police saw no indication of foul play but the wealthy mother of the boy wanted further looking into the death. Gillian reluctantly drove the seven hours to Truman Sound and was welcomed by a warm couple at a bed and breakfast and as she met more and more of the local inhabitants she began to feel that this was a wild goose chase and she should quit and go home. Brother Luke persuaded her to continue. Some things started to make her start looking closer to the people she had made such close friends with.
Was it murder or a terrible accident? What happened in the little Canadian town of Truman Sound the previous Halloween? A young man was dead and his parents wanted answers. Gillian found the people warm and friendly and no one knew any answers to questions about what happened that snowy night. The community made Gillian welcome and were such nice people. There were dances, cozy coffee and cookies and children playing; surly the case had to have been an accident, or was it?
