In A Tunnel is Only a Hole on its Side by James Minter, the second in the Hole trilogy, Colin and Izzy are looking to boost their so-far successful Hole Farming business. When they hear about a new bypass that has been planned for the town, they are up in arms. The course of the bypass is set to go right through the golf course and Major Woods is not happy. He uses his position and manages to get the bypass re-routed through Lady Wills’ estate and through Colin’s farm. In his usual manner, Colin decides that the route can be altered again – this time with a tunnel beneath the golf course. He sees it as a way to sell some holes and to get back in the good books of Major Woods. Nothing ever goes according to plan though and, in true Minter fashion, the comedy ensues. Can Colin save the golf course from being destroyed? Or will he lose his farm instead?
A Tunnel is Only a Hole on its Side is another truly hilarious offering from James Minter. So far, the first two books in the trilogy are turning out to be some of the funniest I have ever read. Mr. Minter has a way with words and a turn of phrase that left my sides aching with laughter and, when I got to the end of the book, I so desperately wanted to read more. These are a series of stories that I can easily see being made into a good old British comedy TV show or series of films.
