A Sherlock Holmes Alphabet of Cases, Volume Five (U to Z) by Roger Riccard is the last in this series. He is a student and enthusiast of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and all things Sherlock Holmes. Riccard has written over forty-five stories continuing the suspense and mystery of one of history's favorite characters. This book of short stories follows the same characters, deductions, and intriguing mysteries we have loved. You feel as if you are reading one of Conan Doyle's originals. These stories do not progress as Holmes and Watson age, although the last story features Holmes when he is retired, and outlaws assume he is too frail to be of any threat.

I felt Roger Riccard has the same passion, love, and drive for Sherlock Holmes as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle did while he was alive and writing. Sherlock Holmes Alphabet of Cases, Volume Five (U to Z) is penned during Holmes's better days when addiction and depression were not his constant companions. The Zuchen Family Plot would have been my favorite as Holmes is older and murder is one farm over. Dr. Watson was already visiting, which allowed this story to get into his chronicles. Sherlock Holmes relies on his tricks, disguises, and pulling strings to track down the killers and get justice for the family. Holmes's tenderness for the family was a rare treat when he promised the children he would find the murderer. Overall, this book will delight any Sherlock Holmes devotee. The author offers a tribute to the memory of Holmes. Readers who felt they lost something when they finished their last novel by Conan Doyle will be relieved that he lives on.
