A New Home For Donald: A Story Inspired by True Events that Teaches Character Building Values by Connie Olson is an adorable children's book with an important message behind it. One day a neighbor stops by Corky's house with a special gift. Corky can't wait to find out what it is but patiently waits until morning. The next morning arrives and Corky finds herself in the presence of a cute baby duck who she names Donald after her favorite cartoon character. Corky introduces Donald to her dog Spot and the three of them go on adventures where they meet some of the neighbors. Give this book a read to find out what adventures they embark upon.
I enjoyed reading A New Home For Donald because it was entertaining and charming. The main message behind this story is that names don't define who you are, and I loved how Connie Olson shows this in her story. Connie has given her characters gender-assigned names and switched them around, which shows you that a name is simply just a name, nothing more, nothing less. A New Home For Donald is a pleasurable read and any child will enjoy having it read to them. The story is packed with adventure, is written well, and flows easily. The illustrations by Amy Hornsby are a perfect fit for the story and they help bring the story alive, as well as being super cute! A New Home For Donald checks all the boxes when it comes to finding a good children's book with enjoyable content. Connie Olson is a brilliant children's author and you will love every word she has written.
