A Light in the Darkness by Kevin Hatt is the first book in a series of black comedy crime stories. Haszard wants to know why his friend died. Always managing to get himself involved where he shouldn’t be, he resists when his friends try to persuade him to stay out of it. He meets the woman he has always dreamed about and becomes friendly with a local entrepreneur who knows people in the right places and can get things done. As he begins to make progress in discovering the identity and the reason for his friend’s murder, things start to get a little hazardous for Haszard but that will not stop him from getting to the truth.
A Light in the Darkness by Kevin Hatt was an intriguing story. Black comedy meets romance meets murder mystery and explodes in a story that pulled me in from the first few pages. Even if black comedy isn’t your thing, I believe that any reader, like me, will struggle to find an excuse to stop reading this because it’s a story that gets its claws into you and doesn’t let go till the very end. Very well written, exceptional characters and a great story line make this an excellent read if you have a couple of hours to sit and chill out. Good, old fashioned action makes this an easy and funny read and I really can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.
