Time waits for no one as Lady Jocelyn Dunkirk discovers after her father is seriously injured when a time machine explodes in the Victorian era. Richard Windsor, the Prince of Wales, is from the future and wants Jocelyn to return with him as his fiancée. Unfortunately, she has mixed feelings for him as he is the cause of the explosion. She is smart, a humanitarian, and wears unconventional clothing. Jocelyn, an inventor, is asked by the Prime Minister to act as mediator in a coal strike before the country runs out of the precious commodity. There are unsavoury persons who are “fueling the fire” of the coal strike for their personal gain. Jocelyn’s problems increase when she discovers her father has made an unknown male relative his heir, and she worries about her uncertain future. A Lady Never Lies: The Windsor Diaries Book Three is written by Stephanie Burkhart.
I found myself traveling back and forth in time in this adventurous story. The plot was very original and it showed Stephanie Burkhart’s creativity as a writer. The Victorian setting made me more aware of the working conditions coal miners endured and the importance of coal and other fuels. The future was interesting and had its share of surprises, too. Each character was well developed and played their roles well with good flowing dialogue. A Lady Never Lies: The Windsor Diaries Book Three is a wonderful book with a matching cover illustration. I am sure the upcoming sequel will also prove entertaining.
