A Friend for Princess Ada by Emilee Moore and Kim Soderberg is hilariously charming, depicting a lonely Princess Ada who has friends that visit but, as an only child, she longs for a friend who can stay with her at the castle. She issues a royal decree to help her find a suitable friend. The villagers love their princess and are eager to help, but for one problem: what makes a good friend for a princess? Unsure of how to help their beloved Princess Ada, they go on a quest to find her a friend, producing some laugh-out-loud candidates along the way. This funny story is a new take on dealing with loneliness and what traits make a good friend.
I had fun reading A Friend for Princess Ada by Emilee Moore and Kim Soderberg and loved the illustrations presented with each new page. Princess Ada loves her friends but grows sad each night when they must return home. The pictures and Princess Ada’s exaggerated responses to the different friends the villagers bring each day are sure to please. She also points out some good reasons why each would make a good friend and why they wouldn’t; this is an amusing look at the comparisons. I enjoyed the pretty colors and cheerful art style used. This engaging story is a great way to pass the time and one that children will ask to hear again and again.
