A Biblical Approach to Overcoming Addictions by Michael R. Dixon is a Bible study to help those who suffer from addiction. Dixon knows first hand about alcohol and drug abuse and writes these chapters out of love and concern for others fighting the same issues as he fought. Dixon is now a pastor in North Carolina and, as well as serving, helps others in his area. L.I.F.E., Living In Freedom every day is based on God's promises of abundant life. Many have found hope and freedom in the pages of these 40 chapters of help with their addiction.
This study is set up for 40 weeks. Each week deals with a different topic, starting with Living Abundantly to Addictions: Dead and Buried to Snap, Crackle, Pop, and on to Jesus Our Deliverer. I have gone through many Bible studies in my lifetime, and I found this to be one of the better ones. I haven't been through any studies about drug use or alcoholism, but I know people who have. And I can tell you that I believe this study can change your life. There are so many scriptures in this book with lots of explanations to help you understand.
I like that after each week's study there is a heartfelt, thoughtful activity to do which will reinforce what you have studied for that week. There is no way I can touch on a fraction of what is in the study, but to sum it up, if you or someone you know is suffering from drugs or alcohol or any other addiction, you desperately need A Biblical Approach to Overcoming Addictions. You will find the unconditional love God has for each of us. He loves you and He will set you free if you will let him.
