Who doesn’t enjoy taking a road trip and exploring the open road before you? Lisa Creech Saleh, her husband Mounir, and their son Jaden took a road trip along the historic Route 66. In her travel adventure, 66 Dreams: Life Lessons from the Mother Road, Lisa not only shares details of their ten-day trip but also fourteen life lessons learned along the way. This is not some boring slideshow at your neighbor’s. This is life at its best. Places that the family visited include Cadillac Ranch, Arcadia Round Barn, and many others. Jaden even took the 72-ounce steak challenge at The Big Texan Steakhouse. Along the route, Lisa learned that life is filled with disappointments, but you should keep heading toward your destination. The Mother Road (Route 66) is seen as a metaphor for life with a past, present, and future. This book will hold your interest and may even inspire you to travel an old road yourself. On this occasion, they started at Amarillo and drove to Chicago. I can’t wait for the second half of the trip.
Some people are always learning. Lisa Creech Saleh is one of those, even while on vacation. She and her family took a trip on the famous Route 66 and in 66 Dreams she shares life principles that will help the reader navigate their road of life. The book is full of interesting photos taken along the route. If we dwell on the negative, we will not enjoy our journey. However, if we choose to focus on the beauty of the road we can enjoy the path, wherever it takes us. Even negative circumstances have silver linings. Lisa writes encouragingly and engagingly. You will enjoy the stories and make notes of the gems of wisdom Lisa provides. I also hope that she and her husband will decide to drive the historic Dixie Highway and write about it. I highly recommend this book as it is a pure joy to read.
