The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn (Volume 2) by Kerry J. Donovan is a very neat and interesting thriller that will grab readers' attention till the very end. Fourteen-year-old Hollie Jardine is abducted on her way back from school one day. The case is given to Detective Chief Inspector David Jones. His case study leads him to some alarming facts like how Hollie was being groomed by a convicted sex offender. The search for the teenage girl takes him to France, which takes his detective skills to another level. Will he be able to find out where Hollie disappeared?
From England to France, the combined teamwork of both the English and French detectives make the book a compelling read. The plot is well executed and fast paced. The interaction between the two police forces of Britain and France, and Jones and Jean Luc is one of the highlights of the book. The villain Flynn's character is so effectively charted out that he stands out in the story with his wickedness and vileness. The descriptive narration makes it visually attractive, allowing readers to create their own images of the people and the scenes.
The interaction with the family of the missing girl and their concern and fear for her safety add to the human element of the theme. The two lawmen, the villains, and the international chase will take readers on an interesting trip. Readers who like police and detective-based themes will enjoy the book.
