The Cathedral Murders by J.E. Morales is a captivating mystery set in Lima, Peru. The story follows Isabella Castle, a medical student completing her internship. After performing CPR on a dying man, she discovers a small black cross on the right side of his chest, leading her to question its significance. The narrative then shifts to Rome in May 1992, where Bishop Juan Carlos Silvestri realized his dream of priesthood when he met Father Josef Andriso and joined the Opus Dei Headquarters at The Church of Santa Maria. Through interrogation and investigation, Morales takes readers on an enthralling journey filled with suspense as the characters navigate a world plagued by terrorism. The novel expertly balances complex clinical terminology with a clear and concise overview of the mystery at its core.

One standout character is Guillermo, who is fascinated by the small details and relentlessly searches for answers to the questions that matter. J.E. Morales tells a compelling and informative story that is rich in detail. The intellectual challenge of diagnosing an ill patient is a turning point in Isabella’s career and signifies a remarkable achievement, or perhaps not. As suspicions mount with each untimely death, the puzzle begins to fall into place as Isabella seeks to uncover the truth. Despite the anguish, the author reminds readers there is always a solution within reach, even in the most challenging situations.
