"Mia's Mouses" by Joseph Licari is a sweet little picture book that bats above its weight in terms of being a learning tool. Notoriously hard to teach, the book explains in clear, simple terms about how to use plurals in English grammar. Far from being boring, this book shows children the plural rules and how to apply them. Ultimately, English plurals must be memorised, because the rules are tricky and do not stick to a consistent pattern, but this book shows the basics and somehow makes it fun. The illustrations are cute and fun and the central character Mia, and her three mice, are appealing. I'd recommend this book to any Kindergarten teacher who is struggling to get kids to concentrate on the rules - this book will make it enjoy able rather than a slog.

They were so engaged in this story and the lesson of plurals with beautiful illustration and adorable characters. I have never seen them so excited about a read aloud before!
