This review is on the unabridged audio book, Mayday by Nelson DeMille and Thomas Block. Supersonic jet, Flight 52, was on a routine flight to Japan when it was hit by a US Navy missile. The test missile hit the plane and went through the plane causing luggage, seats and passengers to be sucked out. Many of the passengers died from lack of oxygen, others were left brain damaged. John Berry, a civilian pilot, was in the bathroom when the plane was hit. When he opened the door he discovered the mayhem. Barry was the only hope that anyone would survive the accident.

Mayday begins with a bang! The action and suspense never stops. DeMille and Block skillfully capture the urgency of the situation. The plane and passengers' survival would not be in the best interest of the Navy, airline or insurance company. Greed is more important than the human life.

This book was made into a made-for-TV movie in the 1990's. DeMille is bestselling author, and when I pick up one of his books, I always know I will quickly be caught up in the plot. DeMille always provides action, conspiracy, danger, and hours of entertainment! In this book, he teams up with Thomas Block, and together they make a formidable team. The plot is exquisite, and the characters are unforgettable, making this an audiobook you won't want to miss. The reader is Scott Brick whose voice will be familiar to fans of DeMille's audiobooks, as he has read several of them. His voice is perfect for this genre. It commands attention and resonates well to the listener. The quality of the audio is perfection. I can always depend on Hachette for high quality audiobooks.
